It is very important for new puppies to get proper nutrition because during the first 15 months of their lives the puppies go through an accelerated growth phase. It is also important to have a diet that can provide the optimum base for stable growth without exceeding or the depleting of necessary elements.
Protein is needed in larger amounts for the growing puppies than the adult dog for the rapid growth of the puppy’s muscles, joints and bones. The energy requirements for a puppy are considerably higher. It is essential for them to receive food nutritionally rich and calorie dense.
In the market there are different types of puppy foods available. The little breed puppies needs a much higher metabolism than those of bigger dogs i.e. they need a different calorie density food than the bigger dogs. Before starting a good feeding program for your little puppies you can get veterinarian’s guidelines. Feeding will depend on the breed and size of your dog. Usually these puppies are fed three times per day and dropping to two daily feedings after the pup is four months of age. If your puppies are not fed properly then all kinds of health problems arises. Check the dog food if you find that your dog has less energy. If your puppies are fed properly then they will be very playful and happy. You will be very happy to see your dog playing and jumping here and there.
When you find a dog food that you like, you can check the label for feeding instructions. Get a good opinion from your Vet If feeding does not go as well as you hoped for. After that you can start all over again with a new food and make sure that your pet is happy. It is much better to start from the beginning to get off to a good dog feeding. This sure beats all kinds of trial and error runs on your new dog.
